Flood-Irrigated Field Levelling
Flood-irrigated field levelling should establish the planned water movement without unnecessary disturbance. Supply, surface and outlet conditions determine the useful profile.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeRecord inlet head, outlet level and existing field geometry.
Work stageCompare alternative arrangements and estimate material movement before correction.
AfterObserve a controlled irrigation after the required surface preparation.
What to verify
Check water arrival and retained pockets across the field.
Field formation precedes the crop-specific seedbed or bed-making operation. Protect productive soil, check the whole water route and coordinate headlands with machinery access. A before-and-after photograph can show shape, but does not establish a crop or irrigation benefit without appropriate observations.
Scope and limits
A uniform dry appearance does not establish irrigation performance.
