Irrigated Cropping Landforming
Irrigated-cropping landforming must coordinate field geometry with the intended delivery and removal of water. Grade choices should not be made independently of the irrigation layout.

Plan the surface handover
BeforeSurvey field levels and water-control structures.
Work stageSelect workable cut and fill movements that fit the crop layout and preserve productive soil.
AfterRe-form rows or bays and check the operating result.
What to verify
Use measured levels together with water observations.
Field formation precedes the crop-specific seedbed or bed-making operation. Protect productive soil, check the whole water route and coordinate headlands with machinery access. A before-and-after photograph can show shape, but does not establish a crop or irrigation benefit without appropriate observations.
Scope and limits
Changes in one field can affect connected drainage and should be designed accordingly.
Continue the job brief
Include the location, existing condition, intended surface, material, available tractor and proposed dates.
