Onion Field Preparation

Onion-field preparation requires the field surface and final bed geometry to be treated as separate tasks. Correcting broad ponding before bed formation can prevent uneven conditions across the planting area.

Plan the surface handover

BeforeConfirm bed layout, irrigation and the source of low spots.
Work stageGrade suitable soil according to the field plan, protecting the growing layer.
AfterComplete bed formation and crop-specific planting preparation.

What to verify

Inspect bed-end flow paths and retained soil depth.

Field formation precedes the crop-specific seedbed or bed-making operation. Protect productive soil, check the whole water route and coordinate headlands with machinery access. A before-and-after photograph can show shape, but does not establish a crop or irrigation benefit without appropriate observations.

Scope and limits

No crop response or yield benefit is guaranteed by grading alone.
