Three machines, selected in context
The Dugong rental family is presented as three machines: Dugong 900, Dugong 1200 and Dugong 1400. Selection should begin with the work to be done, tractor and hydraulic resources, material and moisture, haul distance, access and the finish required. Capacity alone is not a rental recommendation.
How to choose
Application or problem → soil/material and moisture → tractor/hydraulics → haul and access → 900 / 1200 / 1400 → rental/lease.
For GPS/GNSS and laser receiver-platform integration, continue to Dugong Scraper platform systems. If the requirement needs a new width, material, weight or configuration rather than an existing rental machine, continue to Frank’s Final Grade development.
Job economics
Production and fuel should be estimated from the actual job rather than model name alone. See the Productivity & Economics centre for transparent worked assumptions.

Choosing 900, 1200 or 1400 in context
The three-model family should be selected from the job backwards: area, soil or material, moisture, access, tractor, hydraulic services, haul, guidance method and required finished condition all matter. Capacity is one input, not the whole selection decision.
| Model | Nominal capacity | Role in the range | Typical selection questions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dugong 900 | 0.30 m³ | Compact end of the family for tighter access, smaller-scale correction and applications where manoeuvrability matters. | Is access restricted? Is the available tractor at the smaller end of the intended range? Is local correction more important than maximum carried volume? |
| Dugong 1200 | 0.45 m³ | Intermediate machine between the compact 900 and higher-capacity 1400. It provides a middle pathway where neither extreme is necessary. | Does the job need more carrying capacity than the 900 while retaining a more moderate machine envelope than the 1400? What tractor and hydraulic services are available? |
| Dugong 1400 | 0.65 m³ | Main higher-capacity model for broader farm-to-construction grading and controlled material redistribution. | Is useful material movement per cycle a priority? Does the tractor, site access and operating environment suit the larger model? |
Final matching should consider tractor manufacturer limits and the actual hydraulic/interface requirements of the selected configuration. Follow the machine choice into rental and leasing and the productivity worked examples.
