Acreage Drainage — Guide

This guide focuses on acreage drainage as a property maintenance decision. The useful starting point is the condition required for the next use of the property or access area, not simply the amount of material a machine can move.

Control the area for what happens next.
Assess the purpose of the area, its relationship to surrounding levels and the operation that follows.

What to look at first

Walk or survey the affected area and identify where the surface, drainage or access no longer supports the next use of the property or access area. Separate a local problem from a whole-area problem before deciding on grading.

Connect the local area to the whole

A correction should relate to surrounding levels and drainage. GPS/GNSS, laser or conventional survey references can help maintain that relationship where suitable.

Where a Dugong may fit

A tractor-towed Dugong can be considered for controlled cutting, carrying, spreading and fine grading where the tractor, material, moisture, access and required finish are suitable. It complements larger earthmoving and specialised construction equipment.

Rental questions

Before rental, define the area, intended result, tractor and hydraulics, soil or material, moisture, access, guidance method and what operation follows the grading.

Questions to answer before work

Existing Dugong rental or lease

If an existing Dugong configuration may suit the job, describe the area, tractor, material, intended result and location.

Plan a rental or lease

Existing-machine rental and application information belongs here. Development of a new width, material or specialised machine configuration belongs with Frank’s Final Grade.
