ISO standards relevant to Dugong grader scrapers

A standards knowledge hub separating relevant ISO terminology and interfaces from claims of product certification.

ISO 7133:2013 — scraper terminology

ISO 7133:2013 establishes terminology and the content of commercial specifications for scrapers, including towed scrapers. This makes it directly relevant when describing scraper type and commercial specifications. It does not, by itself, certify a particular Dugong machine.

ISO 6485:1980 — volumetric rating

ISO 6485:1980 describes a consistent procedure for approximating the volume of material contained in an open-bowl tractor-scraper. It is a comparison method, not a guarantee of the amount carried in every material or operating condition.

Agricultural tractor interfaces

ISO 6489-3:2021 addresses tractor drawbar dimensions; ISO 21244:2008 addresses implement hitch rings used with tractor drawbars; ISO 5675:2021 addresses general-purpose quick-action hydraulic couplers. Whether a particular Dugong component conforms must be verified from the actual component and engineering records.

A critical exclusion

ISO 20474-7:2017 is a scraper safety standard, but its published scope explicitly excludes towed scrapers. Dugong should therefore not be described as certified to that standard merely because it is a scraper.

Rental pathway

For an existing Dugong machine and job suitability, continue to models or rental and leasing. New machine development belongs with Frank’s Final Grade.

Standards references are informational. Confirm the current standard, component documentation, engineering requirements and applicable Australian law before making a conformity or certification claim.

How standards claims are handled

Standards information on this site is intentionally specific. A standard should be identified by number and scope before it is connected to a design, calculation, component or interface. Relevance is not the same as product certification.

For each standards reference, the useful questions are: What does the standard cover? What does it exclude? Which part of the Dugong design or terminology is being discussed? Is the statement a definition, calculation method, interface requirement or verified conformity claim?

This approach is deliberately narrower than phrases such as “ISO patented” or a blanket claim that an entire machine is “ISO certified.” Patents and standards perform different functions.
