ISO standard
An ISO standard is a published technical or management standard. A standard can be relevant to terminology, dimensions, interfaces, test methods or other requirements.
Conformity and certification
A product or component should only be described as conforming or certified when there is evidence supporting that specific claim and the scope is clear.
Patents
ISO does not grant patents. Patent protection and ISO standards are separate systems. Therefore “ISO-patented” should not be used as a substitute for identifying an actual patent and an actual ISO standard.
Recommended Dugong wording
Name the relevant ISO number and subject. State whether it is a terminology reference, rating method, interface standard or verified component conformity. Keep patent statements separate and identify the relevant patent jurisdiction/number when appropriate.
