Purpose
ISO 6485:1980 specifies a procedure for approximating the volume of typical material contained in an open-bowl scraper using bowl dimensions and representative material above the bowl.
Important limitation
The ISO description says the method is intended for consistent capacity comparison and is not intended to define actual capacity in a specific application.
Dugong capacity claims
Any Dugong capacity stated as an ISO 6485 rating should be calculated and documented using that procedure. Until that calculation is verified, published Dugong capacities should be described as machine capacities or approximate capacities rather than labelled ISO-rated.
